Neil Smothers
Title: Curriculum Designer/ Sport & Exercise Science Educator
Description / background:
Neil is a PE teacher with 11 years teaching experience in the UK. He has also worked as a HPE teacher/ coach in the USA (including; New York, California, Tennessee, Georgia and Kentucky) and Australia (Perth, Brisbane and the Gold Coast). This teaching includes HPE at both at Primary and High schools.
Neil represented Welsh Schools U18s in the Home International tournament, playing against England, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. During his time at University he played for Welsh Universities for all four years he attended (1 year as captain). He has played semi professional football in the UK for the past 15 years and has also made 10 appearances in the UEFA Cup.
Neil moved to Australia from the U.K in 2010, where he has been working as a HPE teacher for Primary and secondary schools. He is one of three senior partners at the Ultimate Development Group.
Duties:
Ensuring that the multi skills curriculum is up to date and delivered in the correct manner. Also overseeing the coach and player education system within UDG, making sure information is researched and current.
Qualifications:
- BSc (Hons) Sport and Exercise Science
- Post Graduate certificate of Education – P.E
- Fundamental Skills / Dragon Sports / Community Sports Leaders award tutor.
- UEFA ‘C’ Football (soccer) Licence Holder
- UEFA ‘B’ Football (soccer) Licence Holder
- Level 1 qualifications in –
Rugby Union, Gymnastics, Tennis, Basketball, Field Hockey, SAQ (Speed, Agility, Quickness), swimming and goalkeeping.

Interests:
I love coaching children of all ages. I also like keeping fit and being outdoors. I also enjoy travelling, reading, listening to music and chilling out with friends and family.
